Generator Service Intervals and Routine Check Guide

At Think Generator, we  recommend servicing your generator every 500 hours for minor services and every 1000 hours for major  services. However, to ensure optimal performance of your generator, there are some routine checks you should carry out.

 

Daily, Weekly, or Each Startup Checklist:

  • Check all fastenings, fixings, and connections
  • Inspect the fan belts and engine alternator belts for condition and tension
  • Check the fan and exhaust guards
  • Verify all filler caps
  • Look for leaks in the coolant, oil, and fuel
  • Inspect all pipes
  • Check the fuel, oil, and coolant levels
  • Inspect all hoses and connections
  • Verify the battery terminals and electrolyte level
  • Check the control panel

Monthly Checklist:

  • Check all fastenings, fixings, and connections

  • Start and run the generator for 1 to 2 hours on a 50% load for an operational check
  • Drain the water and sediment from the fuel tank
  • Drain the dual-wall tank bund area (if applicable)
